Boiler Law Alumni Association is delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Purdue Global Law School alumni and students who are making meaningful contributions in their fields and communities worldwide. As an independent alumni association, we take pride in recognizing these accomplished individuals whose work reflects the caliber of excellence fostered by their legal education. Below, we showcase the outstanding accomplishments of our featured alumni and students for October 2025.

Notable Alumni and Student Achievements

Andrea Barringer (JD ’24) has started a new position as Deputy Public Defender at the Law Offices of the Public Defender San Bernardino County.

Brenna Berquam (JD 18) (concept advisor) and Becca Elan (JD 18) (music & vocals) collaborated on a motivational album for law students and bar takers, which is available on all major streaming platforms.

Alaysia Black Hackett (EJD ’19) spoke at the 54th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation. She was also recently featured in an interview with Black Link Magazine.

Rae Carnevale (EJD expected 26) is running for the Pueblo School District 60 Board. 

Bryan Dildy (JD ’24) has started a new position as a Litigation Attorney at Schmid & Voiles.

Tammara Gardner-Martinez (JD 15) is the author of The 12 Guiding Stars System: A Comprehensive Planner for Manifesting Your Soul’s True Desires in Every Area of Your Life, which is now available for pre-order.

Lauren Guthrie (EJD ’20) has a new position as Director of Policy Governance and Public Records with the Maricopa County Community College District.

Bree Hamilton Cortez (JD 13) was recognized as one of the “40 Under 40” honorees by Pacific Coast Business Times magazine.

Conan Higgins (JD 10) recently earned his Doctor of Philosophy in International Law and Treaty Law. He has transformed his dissertation into an article on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting, which is published in the Intergovernmental Research and Policy Journal.

Todd Hill (JD 25) was appointed by the Texas Commissioner of Insurance to serve on the Board of Directors of the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association (TPCIGA) as a public representative.

Valerie Hogan (JD 08) appeared on the Daily Influence podcast to explore how finance, legacy, and purpose intersect to create lasting impact.

Jeff Kraft (JD 24) relocated to Indiana and started his new job as a prosecutor at the Clark County Indiana Prosecutor’s Office.

Tracy Liberatore (JD 16) was featured in a contributor piece in USA Today titled, “The Bridge Between Two Worlds: Tracy Liberatore Turns Experience into Impact.”

Nelson Locke (JD 11) was featured on the Heart of the Hustle podcast, where he discusses fighting for the right to practice law in Texas-and winning.

Michael Mize (JD 18) started a new position as Associate Attorney with Tyson & Mendes.

June Monroe (JD 12) presented twice at the Fresh Produce & Floral Council’s Harvest Forum & Fair. Her sessions included “Harvesting Clarity: Get Clarity on Grower’s Agent and Commission Merchant Obligations” and “Reaping Superiority: Priority Creditor Status with the PACA Trust.”

Jennifer Nguyen (JD 22), who is completing her LLM in Tax Law this summer at the University of San Diego School of Law, has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. She also became a member of the Inn of Court for North County San Diego, where her group is currently in the running for a prestigious national American Inns of Court Program Award.

Susan Rider (EJD expected 27) has been named President of the National Association of Benefits & Insurance Professionals (NABIP).

Cheryl Sattler (JD ’19) took and passed the Florida Bar Exam, becoming one of our first graduates ever to do so. This makes Florida the 20th U.S. state or territory outside California in which our graduates have obtained licensure.

Charles Simmons (EJD 20) is starting a new position as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Coordinator at the American Legion Department of France consisting of 32 American Legion Posts.

Effrossini Simpson (JD 19) has been recognized with an Outstanding Advocacy Award by the University of Calgary Faculty of Law.

Brian Victor (JD 09) was the featured “Raising the Bar” CLE speaker on the topic “Family Law Issues: Divorce, Support, and Child Custody” in July. 

John Welby (EJD 18) earned a new certification: Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Identity Management Implementation from Cisco.
